Soil Desire People Dance is inspired by the poetry and prose texts of the writer W.G. Sebald, and the current episodes are taken from Sebald's After Nature, published posthumously in 2002. The through-line of the productions concerns the persistence of material objects through the passage of history, and is narrated from the point of view of displaced object-manipulators attempting to reconstruct a lost world from surviving fragments and discovering the extent to which much of human history is lost to us. Soil Desire People Dance is a fusion of low-tech and tactile with real-time video processing.
