Mush! To The Movies! : A Polar Film Club
Featuring the film South by Sir Ernest Shackleton & Frank Hurley
$10 General Admission
Free for VPES & Filmforum Members with  RSVP to event@panoramaonview.org
Sir Ernest Shackleton & his crew, featuring photographer Frank Hurley, set sail on the Endurance on August 8, 1914. After being lodged in a polar ice pack for months, Shackleton led the way through an 850-mile journey across the Antarctic mountains and waters to reach assistance and rescue the remaining men. This film is a restored compilation of documentation taken during the expedition.

Charles Hood, poet and Research Fellow at the Center for Art + Environment, will introduce the film with a short illustrated lecture on the National Science Foundation's very competitive, and somewhat misunderstood Artists and Writers program. Hood will talk about the origins of that program, review some of the best work by previous Artists and Writers residents, and share perspectives on how the polar communities view Shackleton and other historic explorers in the present day.

Come early for free popcorn and Polar Passport Initiation in the Nova Tuskhut!
