The second iteration in the Velaslavasay Panorama's 20th Anniversary film screening series Electric Shadows On Penglai Mountain, we present the 1935 film Scenes of City Life.

Scenes of City Life《都市風光》is a 1935 comedy-drama set in Shanghai that tells the story of an enamored novelist in a love triangle with the pawnshop owner's daughter and a wealthy business man. A cultural study of mass entertainment and visual media in 1930s Shanghai—featuring animation, still photographs, advanced cinematography and a peepshow—it is the debut film of iconic Director Yuan Muzhi, the "man with a thousand faces."

Scenes of City Life 《都市風光》will be screened outdoors with limited seating. Guests can visit Shengjing Panorama, a 360-degree painting of Shenyang, China circa 1910-1930, before & after the screening. Doors will open at 8pm, and the movie will begin at 8:30pm. We recommend bringing a blanket to stay warm throughout the night.
