Grand Moving Mirror of California

Let us remark upon a brief history of The Grand Moving Mirror of California. In July of 2010, a narrator, a pianist, crankers, and craftsmen, lead a presentation of Dr. L.E. Emerson's tale of the California Gold Rush by the way of moving panorama at The Velaslavasay Panorama in Los Angeles, California.

The Grand Moving Panorama of California is a two-hundred-and-seventy-foot-long painted landscape, depicting the early history of California and referencing elements of the landscape and culture as it exists today. On the voyage we encounter the rough seas at Cape Horn, early versions of today's California cities and famous natural treasures, and the people, landscapes and ports-of-call the original '49ers encountered on their journey to find their fortunes.

The 1853 script was originally accompanied by a scroll, lost to the sands of time. The 270 foot long panorama was thus recreated and re-imagined by the hand of Guan Rong and engineered by Rosco Posada, among others. A digital reproduction was brought about years later for the purposes of traveling exhibition.
