The evening also includes a public Q&A with the Director of Forest Lawn Museum, tours of the museum, live music, and complimentary drinks and hors d’oeuvres.

Located next to Forest Lawn Museum, the Hall of Crucifixion-Resurrection showcases the Crucifixion (195 ft. x 45 ft.), which is the largest painting in the Western United States. It was painted by Polish artist Jan Styka in the 1890s. The building also houses the Resurrection (70 ft. x 51 ft.), which was painted by American artist Robert Clark in 1965.

The first screening will occur at 5:30 PM on September 9.

There will be a second screening at 6:15 PM on September 9.

Beginning on September 10, the new audiovisual program will run on the hour (10 AM-4 PM, closed at 1 PM for lunch). The Hall of Crucifixion-Resurrection is closed every Monday and occasionally for special events. Check Forest Lawn website for closures or call 323-340–4782.

The program’s debut coincides with the Forest Lawn Museum exhibition Grand Views: The Immersive World of Panoramas, created in collaboration with the Velaslavasay Panorama. The exhibition reveals the art and history behind some of the world’s largest paintings. It is on view through September 10, 2023.
