Ozark Highballers (Arkansas)

House Band – David Bragger & Susan Platz

And a very special Crankie performance by Angelina Elise to the tune Do as You Please, Just Come Back to Me by Skillet Licorice

Echo Mountain is a five piece old-time string band based out of Los Angeles, featuring fiddlers Kyle McNally and Jonathan Shifflett, Peter Linden on banjo, and multi-instrumentalists Kelly Marie Martin and Ben Kramer. Together they play square dances in the LA area and have been featured performers at the Watkins Family Hour and the Father’s Day Bluegrass Festival in Grass Valley. The collective vision of Echo Mountain is to build a repertoire that reflects the full spectrum of the old-time tradition, tackling complex fiddle tunes and rich harmony singing with new energy while remaining true to traditional style and form.

Banjo player Richie Stearns and fiddler Rosie Newton grew up 150 miles and a few decades apart, but the fated combination of their unique skill, varied musical influence, and honest storytelling comes together to achieve their common goal: to create music that people can connect with. Before joining forces, Richie earned himself a name with genre-bending band the Horse Flies and collaborations with legends like Bela Fleck, Pete Seeger, David Byrne, Billy Bragg & Wilco, and Joan Baez. Richie & Rosie's music finds itself at a junction of Americana, old-time, and folk, bringing a new sound to traditional music with their signature trance-like, boundary pushing instrumental arrangements and angelic harmonies.

The Ozark Highballers are a three piece string band from Fayetteville, Arkansas. This old-fashioned ensemble features the rollicking chords and bass runs of Aviva Steigmeyer on guitar, the rhythmically intricate string tickling of Clarke Buehling on finger-style banjo, and the dynamic fiddling of Roy Pilgrim on the fiddle. The Highballers provide music for square dances, farmers markets, festivals, public and private parties, as well as playing music on plain old street corners and front porches. Their music reflects the spirit and drive of the rural string bands of the 1920s and 30s, particularly those of the Arkansas Ozarks.
