The Last Servants

In the remains of a dystopic Earth, a once-mighty world dictator makes a radical choice. He transfers his consciousness into a scouting robot, with the aim of propelling himself to the distant exoplanet AG309, foreseeing the expansion of his sovereignty. However, destiny has other plans for him. The launch attempt goes awry, leading the robot to plummet onto the icy terrain of Antarctica. There, in the solitude of the frozen wasteland, the fallen overlord finds himself confronted by profound reflections—wandering upon the nature of consciousness, existence, the frailty of the human form, and the elusive meaning of mortality.

Performed by Kenneth Welsh (Twin Peaks, The Day After Tomorrow, Twilight Zone)
Written by José Badía Berner
Based on a short story by Nicolás Carcavilla
Original score and sound design by Nicolás Carcavilla
RUNNING TIME: around 40 minutes

~ In the memory of Ken Welsh (1942–2022) ~

Nicolás Carcavilla's (b. 1993 in Santiago de Chile) music is deeply anchored in experimentation and improvisation, combining acoustic and synthetic instrumentation with a meticulous sense of production. Themes of science fiction and fantasy permeate his intricate, often automatic multilayered soundscapes.

In 2012, Carcavilla co-founded Nonlocal Research, a label based in Santiago and Brussels. Operating from a small town in southern Chile's native rainforest, he directs Galapex-Orpheus Studios & Entertainment, producing both music and film. His solo project, Embassador Dulgoon, along with his duos Timelash and Archimboldos, have garnered critical acclaim. The highly anticipated third installment of Embassador Dulgoon's Wetland Chronicles 12" LP is slated for release in 2025.

LOOKOUT FM is a West Coast terrestrial radio home for the broadcast of "transmission art:" experimental audio composition, modern serials, data sonification, radio plays, multi-day compositions, and radio-centric performances. Fully licensed stations in Burbank, Hollywood, and Pacific Palisades function as FM exhibition spaces where radio art is presented without regard to constraints of time, structure, or commercial consideration.

Radio is a public utility, and as such should be a platform for public art. LOOKOUT FM encourages artists to create and broadcast original works on the FM electromagnetic spectrum in Los Angeles by providing the necessary context and support for transmission-based projects.
