Join artists Hillary Mushkin (Incendiary Traces), Elizabeth Chaney (Tijuana/UCSD), and Steve Rowell (Center for Land Use Interpretation); art historianJason Weems (UC Riverside), creative researcher Aurora Tang (High Desert Test Sites); writer Janet Owen Driggs (Metabolic Studio); and cultural geographers Nick Bauch (CSU-LA) and Rick Miller (UCLA) for images and dialog on Los Angeles’ unique engagement with visual representation, military territorialization, and flora appropriation.

This program will offer historical and contemporary variations on how the palm-dotted landscape is represented for political and cultural purposes, while tracing assorted perspectives on landscape imagery that extend from 19th century drawing and painting practices.
