crackle after the blazing dies.

 

As we light the lantern and bid farewell to the Earth Dog Year, we look ahead and welcome the oncoming Year of the Earth Pig. The Velaslavasay Panorama gives you its best wishes and blessings for 2019.

 

 

Looking towards sentiments past, we review some highlights of this year:

• Installed the Shengjing Panorama painting and worked on ancillary components including new lighting systems, ambisonic sound capabilities and sculptural faux terrain.
• Revived the Grand Moving Mirror of California in its miniature form, following the journey north to the Exploratorium in San Francisco.
• Curated the Voyage to the Land of Speaking Blood, a three-part film series exploring themes of tourism, documentary, surrealism & archaeology in Mexican cinema made in collaboration with the Luis Buñuel Film Institute and The American Egypt.
• Presented a paper on the landmark development of Shengjing Panorama to the 27th International Panorama Council Conference in Istanbul, Turkey.
• Participated in four local street festivals: Bob Baker Day, North Area Neighborhood Development Council’s Sunfest, Cristo del Arbol and 24th Street Theatre’s Dia de los Muertos!
