"A Border Peepshow" this weekend at the VP

A Border Peepshow, created in collaboration with Parkeology, debuted on the promenade of Plaza de Panama in Balboa Park, San Diego in June, 2017. The Peepshows depict scenes of the San Diego/Tijuana border from 1887, 1927, 1967, and 2017, and will be on view on the stage of the Velaslavasay Panorama on Friday, July 28th, Saturday, July 29th, and Sunday, July 30th, 2017 from Noon 'Til 6:00 PM. The installation includes audio recordings used in Parkeology's Border Trolley Tours which introduce the region of the Tijuana Border and its shifting story of a once culturally and ecologically connected terrain.

After a long weekend at the Velaslavasay, the Peepshows will travel to Berlin, Germany to participate in an exhibit at nGBK.

The Annual Conference of the International Panorama Council 
meets this year at the Queens Museum in New York.

This year's theme is (RE)Thinking The Panorama: Exploring the criteria that contributed to the panorama's original definition in an effort to understand how it has affected contemporary media art forms and visual culture ever since. The conference will include tours of the Panorama of the City of New York, illustrated presentations by panorama enthusiasts and academics alike, a trip to the Museum of the Moving Image, and a tour of Gulliver's Gate - a world of miniatures. Review the International Panorama Council's website for information on the conference and explore their accounts of panoramas around the world and through history.
