12th Annual Los Angles Old Time Social

Join us Friday for the 12th Ever LA Old Time Social!

The Velaslavasay Panorama will host the concert portion of the Social for the 11th year! Performers travel from all over the world to take part in the festival, an annual 3-day event of Old-Time fiddle & banjo music with a selection of workshops, performances, and dances culminating with the Topanga Banjo & Fiddle Contest. Skillet Licorice (SF), Bob Willoughby (TN), Buck Ewe (Eric, Suzy & Allegra Thompson, and Rafe Stefanin(LA)), The House Band (Paul & Emily (Santa Cruz), and a special Cranky performance with (Angelina Elise w/Kelly Marie Martin (LA)).

Welcome to the second episode of The Minnow Show!

We'll watch movies, make movies, have popcorn for breakfast and do art instead of (home)work Sunday mornings at 11 A.M.

It's Sunday morning in the garden, not a critter is stirring until the Minnows of Penglai Pond rise to watch a flick & make a pic' at the Velaslavasay Panorama. Join Minnow & friends for The Minnow Show! A kid-friendly, matinée series of films followed by an Arts & Crafts workshop in the garden with treats for kids & adults alike.

The Minnow Show!, Episode 2: Smokehouse Shorts in 16mm
Sunday, May 28th, 2017 at 11 A.M.

Stop action animation and whimsical dramas from the archive of Smokehouse Films will be projected on actual 16mm film. The program will include an overview of projection methods.  Archivist & Filmmaker John Cannizzaro of Smokehouse Films will also lead a workshop on animation that involves painting/drawing directly on 16mm film. These creations will then be projected in the theater. Hope to see you there!
