The thrilling story begins begins at the Prague Exhibition Grounds (home of the Maroldovo Panorama!) where five boys seize the opportunity to embark on an adventure aboard a majestic airship, intertwined with a humorous tale of espionage. The Stolen Airship (1966) features flying machines, unruly vehicles, grotesque horse-legged conveyances, benevolent submarines and other forms of transport—many of which seem to have lives of their own.

The Stolen Airship was digitally restored in 2022 as part of "Restoring the World of Fantasy," a collaborative project by the Karel Zeman Museum, the Czech Film Foundation and Czech Television.

A unique collection of Czech vehicles will be on display, restored and maintained by Paul Greenstein & Dydia DeLyser. 

This event is the Grand Conclusion of our series The Painted Cinema of Karel Zeman, made possible by the Velaslavasay Panorama Enthusiast Society, the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Los Angeles, the Czechoslovak Society of Arts & Sciences in Los Angeles, R. Jelinek Distillery and Artinii.
