First Day of Summer 1933, Morning:
Chrysville (Pennsylvania). A man observed a faint violet light in a field between this town and Morrestown. Walking to it, he found an ovoid object 3 m in diameter and 2 m thick with a circular opening similar to a vault door. Pushing it, he found the room full of violet light and observed many instruments, no occupant. Smell of ammonia. (APRO Jul., 64)

In China - 1989 to Now: Immersive 360-degree Panoramas
An Illustrated Lecture by Sara Velas

The history of the 360-degree painted panorama dates back to the late 1700s and faded from popularity after the invention of cinema. Yet in China, this art form began in 1989 and continues to flourish on a massive scale, adopting the technologies  of our time along the way. Ms. Sara Velas, President of the International Panorama Council (www.panoramacouncil.org) and Founder of the Velaslavasay Panorama (www.panoramaonview.org), will present this lecture as an overview of 20th & 21st century panoramas in Asia with a focus on the panoramas of China.

Enjoy the gardens and exhibits of the Velaslavasay Panorama before and after this lecture. Ambient Folk & Classical Chinese music will be performed in the garden after the presentation by musician Susien Cheng.

In Egypt & North Africa - 1971 to 1997: Tradtions of Music & Dance
A Lecture and Demonstration by Aisha Ali

In 1971, renowned Middle Eastern dancer Aisha Ali traveled to Egypt and North Africa, the first of many trips where she was to live among, dance and observe various tribes of the regions while documenting her fieldwork. Ali’s lecture will include her photography and recordings of the Nawar gypsy performers of Upper Egypt, the Ouled Naïl, an Algerian tribe known for its dancers and musicians, and the Bedouin and Berber chaabi dances of Tunisia. The evening concludes with a live performance of Ghawazi dance.
