with our endeavor nearing completion,
we are proud to present Shengjing Panorama,
arriving with summer winds.

Some updates since the winter of the year gone by:

We are mid-way into the sculpting of the faux terrain - using plaster, foam and recycled bits of Effulgence of the North icebergs to apply texture to the initial elevation platforms.​

8 JBL direct speakers, 4 amplifiers, a Behringer subwoofer and direct box have been installed into the panorama platform and umbrella to fully realize our immersive sound installation.

All primary lighting devices are installed, and we await the completion of sculpted scenes to determine further areas of illuminated interest.

Exhibit development is undergoing materials research as we test innovative ways to communicate the history and present condition of Shenyang, including fiber optic maps and state-of-the-art postcard-viewing apparatus. ​

In September 2018, the Velaslavasay Panorama presented a paper on the development and historical premise of Shengjing Panorama at the 27th International Panorama Council Conference in Istanbul, Turkey. This paper will also be published in the IPC Journal.

In early December, a 40-minute soundscape to Shengjing Panorama was composed, utilizing manipulated avant-garde sheng (Chinese mouth organ) sounds, integrating it with a 20-minute lighting cycle.

The creation of miniature dioramas related to fast travel has commenced.
